Here's what we do for soil fertilizer applications; it's not just calcium that we are focused upon.
We supply in our Organic Gardening Kit and recommend the following:
Per 14 square feet, the following are applied and mixed into the top few inches of soil.
14 cups of Biosol Mix 7-2-3 fertilizer (we are a major distributor of Biosol Organic Fertilizer in the greater inland northwest). This is food for bacteria and fungi. When we spray our microbe tea on the plants and soils, the Biosol Mix 7-2-3 fertilizer insures that there is plenty of food for the bacteria and fungi to eat so those organisms do not lock up everything in the soil and take resources away from the plants. This product is a great source of nitrate nitrogen (in organic form with bacteria action). It is also a source of ammonia nitrogen (in organic form with bacteria action). Nitrate is a must for plant growth. Ammonia nitrogen is a must for buds, flowers, and fruit / vegetable development.
7 cups of Planters II trace mineral fertilizer (which we are also a major distributor of in the greater inland northwest). This ensures that all the vital trace elements plants need are present. This fertilizer also contains 5-14% available calcium. Everything in this fertilizer is available without microbe action. The binding agent is molasses - a good food source for bacteria in the soils.
6 cups of prilled lime which we are also a major supplier of in the inland northwest. 34% calcium by weight. The bentonite binding agent is a zeolite which helps retain moisture in the soils as well as increases the cation exchange capacity of the soil.
5 cups of calphos soft rock phosphate 0-3-0 which we are also a major supplier of in the inland northwest. This product has a total of 20% phosphate with 3% water soluble. It is a source of mineral colloids. The reaction between calcium and calphos produces the energy that plants need to live on. This is also 20% calcium by weight. The bentonite binding agent is a zeolite which helps retain moisture in the soils as well as increases the cation exchange capacity of the soil.
3 cups of Cal-CM plus Gypsum which we are also a major supplier of in the inland northwest. The calcium (23%) in this product is highly available. The binding agent is molasses, a good food source for bacteria in the soils.
BioVam Mycorrhiza which we are the exclusive world wide distributor of, is applied to plant roots or with seeds at the time of planting. BioVam is one of our soil life products that brings into play Mycorrhiza fungi, several very beneficial helper bacteria, and trichoderma fungi.
Weekly sprays of our Microbe Soil Life Tea (which we invented and manufacture, wholesale and retail world wide, with Yucca Extract (which we are a major world wide distributor of) added serve as foliar feeds to supply all of the above fertilizers in micronized form as a source of chelated minerals and nitrate and ammonia nitrogen's released by bacteria action on the organic fertilizer material.
With the application of the above materials, we override the contents of the leeched out soils in the top 3-6” of the soil with nutrients that put in place calcium's, phosphate, mineral colloids, all the trace elements, nitrate and ammonia nitrogen sources. We are insuring that the materials needed to produce the energy plants need to live on are present. We put these into the soil in the correct ratios to achieve the needed energy reactions and subsequent nutrient availability.
This whole system of nutrients is made available by applying a lot of bacteria and fungi (all good bacteria and fungi) that will release a lot of organic acids as they eat the Biosol Mix 7-2-3 fertilizer ingredients. It's those acids that activate all the minerals in the soils and drive the ERGS up well above 200. Ph doesn't matter much when the ERGS are at 370 in the soil which we easily achieve.
The result of all this biological and mineral activity in the soils is that plants grow faster, yield much more, and consistently produce excellent brix levels in the produce harvested and have greatly enhanced flavors. Our first tests of this mineral combination above yielded large 10 brix tomatoes that we have stored at room temperature for 16 months without spoilage. (See home page of our web site http://www.tandjenterprises.com.) They were grown in 2007. We have a picture on our web site of some of those tomatoes grown in 2007 along side 13 brix tomatoes grown in 2008. The yields per tomato plant in 2007 averaged between 300 and 400 large tomatoes in 4 pickings per plant. In 2008, with the coldest summer on record (in the 30's at night and 69 F at noon in the hottest part of the year) we saw only about 80 large tomatoes per plant at 13 brix average.
We have tried the soil test route, but it never seems to achieve the goals we have been after in getting high yields that are also consistently high brix in the first year. The 6-5-3 ratios of materials were sourced in what Dr. Carey Reams taught. Dr. Reams also taught people that if they were using soft rock phosphate or hard rock phosphate that a hyperactive bacteria system was a must in the soils. We are the only ones with this Microbe Tea in the world. (Not to be confused with compost tea; we do not extract from a medium but provide the bacteria and propagate it out into the billions as a gardening resource, something compost teas can not achieve.
Our microbe tea isn't just bacteria and fungi in water. It contains all of the above fertilizer nutrients in finely powdered form with dried cane molasses and soluble kelp in finely powdered form. Our weekly sprays of tea are providing a foliar feed of chelated minerals along with nitrate and ammonia nitrogen's as a result of bacteria action on the Biosol Mix 7-2-3. With the addition of Yucca Extract to our microbe tea after the tea is brewed, we insure that plant cells are made more permeable to nutrient and water uptake. This is what enables us to get excellent performance, out of the box, in the very first year this method is used.
We made another discovery last year when we expanded our testing of the above system out of our 2 cubic foot containers to garden soils and turf grasses. Weeds did not grow in soils for 2.5 months and weeds left turf grass areas for 2.5 months. We plan on doing more tests by reducing the application rates noted above to see where the threshold is for the weeds. Many different experts claim that weeds are an indicator the soil is deficient in nutrients. Following soil tests and subsequent recommendations for adding materials to the soil, we always saw weeds grow in those soils. This is why we are somewhat leery about doing soil tests and their recommendations. As far as I know, we are the first to find that we can suppress weed growth by using the above application rates.
The amounts of fertilizers may seem high to some people, but the results we have seen in different locations, soil, turf grass, and containers, that suppress all weeds, and produce high yields of nutrient dense produce at excellent brix levels the first year, are goals we have not seen achieved by any of the other companies who are working to produce results like what we have achieved. We even found that the turf grass we treated with the above minerals brixed at 14 after running the grass clippings through a wheat grass juicer.
We are now offering an Organic Gardening Kit that contains all of the above fertilizers, with a microbe tea brewer and yucca extract at 25% off the retail prices of those products (see our web site for details http://www.tandjenterprises.com).
We know this is a lot for people to digest but we thought we would give this out to people they could gain a better insight into what we have been doing and are supplying to our customers throughout the world. Yes, we are looking for retailer to carry our Organic Gardening Kit in Washington State.
