The Nailry So another "out and about" took me to go find Kelly....Hmmmm....Whatever could you mean, you may be thinking to yourself.....well let me tell ya. See, ever since I met my wife....you know....Kelly, she has been going to these "dates with Ray". So my curiosity got the best of me one day and I decided to follow her (ok...really...I drove her) to meet this mysterious "Ray". Well this is where the story begins. I walk in to pick her up and lowe and behold there s... Read More
Vintage Finds and Handmade Treasures Market Ok....This will be a short but eventful posting for you.....Get it...eventful...cuz it's for an event...ok, I know that was a stretch, but I had to try. Have you ever watched 23 yes....23 vendors set up all at once in a school gym? Well I did tonight, and aside from all the obvious confusion and mayhem it seemed it was going quite smoothly. Jenifer from Unexpected Necessities was at the helm, with my lovely wife directing traffic for the an... Read More
River Ridge Hardware Ok...so....now you are probably wondering why on earth we would want to review a hardware store. Well lemmie just tell ya..... I have been in this hardware store several times and have always been impressed by their knowledge and customer satisfaction. We all know where the "big" hardware stores are in town but do you really know where the small, family owned, hardware stores are? I have found in the last couple of years that I would much rather give... Read More

Eagle's Nest Espresso For starters this was probably the easiest entry we have ever had to write. You see, we have been a fan of Eagles Nest Espresso since the day they opened their windows for service. If you find yourself out on highway 291 towards Suncrest look for a little wide spot in the road before the dam. This is the official hub of Nine Mile Falls (well it's where the Post Office is anyway). This is where you you will find the BEST and I really mean the BEST coffee drink... Read More
Finders Keepers The spokane Grapevine ventures out once again to review a local business......... Deena visiting with Kelly The first thing you notice when you walk in to Finders Keepers on Second Ave is the chalk board above the register with a tribute from the owner to her employees. Upon reading the note she had left we knew we had walked into our kind of store. Deena happened to be there today (usually she ta... Read More
The Kitchen Engine Kelly and I recently had the opportunity to check out The Kitchen Engineat the Historic Flour Mill. Although we had been there before, usually it was on the way somewhere else. This stop was only to look around at The Kitchen Engine. Their facebook fan pagetouts "our customers are our family" and the way we were greeted by Will and Lola it is no surprise that they have that motto. We were welcomed and greeted as if they knew us, way before we let them know that w... Read More

Well now here we are with our first post on blogger for the spokane Grapevine. We will be adding this blog post to our own blog on The spokane Grapevine Blog. We thought it appropriate that our first blog would be to celebrate local small business in the spokane Area. We initially went out to review Chaps Coffee Company on The Cheney-Spokane road but found it to be too crowded for our liking so we wandered accross the parking lot to a wonderful little shop called The Foxy Horse and H... Spokane has a thriving stand-up comedy scene.
Ho! Ho! Ho! Happy Hoops! What does Santa do in his spare time when he's not delivering gifts on a never ending Christmas Eve? He disguises himself as a short, middle aged, stocky Irishman with a gregarious attitude delivering hoops and nets with a few basketballs thrown in throughout the US all year long. His sleigh is a Lincoln Navigator filled to the brim with “four rear mount hoops and nets.” As he pulls away in his “sleigh” from delivering his most recent set of rims and nets, you can... Read More

At the Home and Yard show this year three or four farmers came forward to introduce themselves at the Home and Yard show as being people trained by Dr Carey Reams. Things like this make me think about how small our world is at times. They were delighted to see that we were really promoting the use of a refractometer as a means of evaluating the quality of plants grown. We made up a brochure with a brix chart to hand out to people. A lot of people had refract... Read More
