How Do You Take Your Coffee?

Black as the devil, hot as hell, pure as an angel, sweet as love.”  Talleyrand, French statesman (1754 – 1838)

I have to admit, I've never walked into Starbucks and uttered those words but, it sure got me to thinking.

Coffee has become so much a part of our culture that major chains are switching their logos from donuts to coffee, book stores are no longer just places to buy books, they're social meeting places where we share coffee with friends.

And the answer to “how do you take your coffee?” is no longer black  or with cream and sugar!   Leaded or Unleaded? Whole bean or Ground? Piping Hot or Frosty?  And that's not to mention the new language we have all come to speak “mocha-choco-latte-frappaccino” and I”ll have mine in a Venti – Skim – Skinny – please 8-)

It's not just coffee anymore - it's en entire social experience, we share our dreams, our hopes, our jokes and even our concerns about the economy with our friends and family over coffee.  And instead of turning to the ice cream bucket I remember from my teenage years we now turn to a HUGE coffee like smoothie!

In fact in North America alone more than 255 million of us drink it every day - most more than 2 cups everyday!  Leading to a daily consumption of more than 1/2 a BILLION cups of coffee every single day! We love it.

And then, just like everything else it seems that starts out innocent enough – it ends up being “bad for us” :-(   so that has many of us looking for a healthy coffee.  An alternative to regular coffee.  We want to keep our addiction, our social  functions, our yummy treats but could perhaps live without the jitters, the caffeine crashes and the acidity of regular coffee.

It seems though that we love it enough despite it's negative side effects, we are willing to drink it, mix it, share it, enjoy it daily!

So, “How Do You Take Your Coffee? – average joe just wont' cut it anymore… what's your favorite?

For me, I love my coffee – with all the good stuff in it, the chocolate, cream, sugar, caffeine and now ganoderma – yumm!  But more importantly I like my healthy coffee with friends and great conversation!
