I have a firm belief that we should support local business owners and always shop local first.
Today, I went to the Gallery of THUM. My son was very hungry so I only popped in for a few minutes to "look around". WOW, this place did amaze me.
I myself am not a big "Art" fan but I see and feel the artist and have a deep appreciation for the talent it takes. I have always wondered why people sit in awe of art when you have no clue what it is unless someone explains it to you. Yet when I see places like The Gallery of Thum I do grow fonder of the talent we have here in Spokane.
I like to work with wood and was taken back by a bowl, made of many pieces of wood inlaid together, that was made by a local artist. The sheer talent and vision.
An "Indian" on the wall also captured my attention but the best part was the very nice lady behind the counter. Why was this the best part you may wonder? With so much great talent on the walls why do I like my interaction with the lady behind the counter the most?
I wanted to introduce myself but had my wife and son with me. Had I introduced myself I could tell that I would be there awhile talking with this nice lady. So I decided I would just write a brief blog that affirms why she was the best part of The Gallery of Thum.
Was she the owner? Was she an employee? It didn't matter. She was the essence of a local business. Kind, friendly, knowledgeable and not a bit pushy. Although our words were brief, you could tell that she appreciated the art and the artists.
The Gallery of Thum is a bit hard to find but is worth a look.
Please support our local business owners.
